TAKING CARE OF YOUR TEETH

As we grow older, our teeth becomes yellow.  We can suffer gum disease, tooth loss, and oral cancer.  According to studies, teeth can last a lifetime.  A healthy mouth has a good supply of saliva, which contains minerals that can halt and even reverse early stages of tooth decay.  If you have a drier mouth which is often a side effect of taking antihistamines, antidepressants, and medications for high blood pressure, decay can spread faster, and you'll need to be even more vigilant with your care.

Everytime we eat, bacteria are left sitting on our teeth waiting to be feed.  So we should brush our teeth every after eating as soon as possible for about two minutes. This will remove stains from foods and beverages.  Flossing will also help and using a mouthwash with fluoride.  Go to your dentist twice a year for cleaning or depending on your dentist's recommendation.  Don't forget to have a thorough dental check up every year for gum disease, cavities and signs of oral cancer.
